A British man, the sole survivor of the recent Air India plane crash, recounted his harrowing escape from the wreckage. Vishwashkumar Ramesh, 40, managed to extricate himself from the downed Boeing 787 by finding an opening in the fuselage and crawling out. He was seated in 11A on the flight that tragically went down shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, India.
Onboard, Ramesh experienced a frightening sequence of events: the lights began flickering, and moments later, the plane struck a building, leading to a devastating explosion. Fortunately for Ramesh, the section of the aircraft he occupied landed away from the impact zone, enabling his escape.
Speaking from his hospital bed, he revealed the shocking scenes he witnessed, expressing disbelief at having survived while others perished around him. “I saw people dying in front of my eyes… for a moment, I felt like I was going to die too,” he stated.
Doctors reported he suffered multiple injuries but is now out of danger. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the site and met with survivors, emphasizing support for those affected. Ramesh and his family, who were on holiday in India, are now seeking assistance to reunite in the aftermath of this tragedy.
The investigation into the crash’s cause is ongoing, with one black box recovered to aid in the inquiry.
