A Texas man, identified as 22-year-old Sergio Olivares, was apprehended for allegedly chasing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during a raid at his father’s tire shop in Humble, Texas. Olivares, who was on bond for a felony drug possession charge, reportedly confronted the agents while they were conducting enforcement operations, prompting a response from local deputies.
According to authorities, ICE agents reported being “aggressively pursued” by Olivares, leading to a reckless chase that endangered other motorists. During the encounter, he is accused of damaging the side mirror of an ICE vehicle. Olivares has been charged with criminal mischief and is held on a $500 bond at the Harris County Jail.
Bodycam footage reveals Olivares in custody, where he asks a deputy if he can make a call to his lawyer, expressing concerns about his probation checks. This incident is part of a troubling trend; assaults against federal agents executing immigration enforcement have spiked dramatically, with reports indicating a 700% increase in such incidents. Since the beginning of the year, over 79 assaults have been documented, underscoring the escalating risks faced by enforcement personnel during their operations.
