A devastating motor vehicle accident took the life of a 27-year-old rider, leaving two others seriously injured on Saturday along Charity New Road in Essequibo Coast.
Daniel Gray, a Somerset and Berks resident, was riding motorcycle #CP 1974 at the time of the crash. The incident also involved another motorcycle, #CP 9109, driven by 31-year-old Alex Jaigopaul, and motor car #PAC 697, driven by 24-year-old Patrick Murray, a Pastor from Charity.
According to investigators, all three vehicles were travelling east along the northern lane when Murray indicated a right turn into a Chinese supermarket. The motorcycles collided with the right side of his vehicle, causing both riders to land on the parapet.
The impact resulted in multiple fractures to Jaigopaul’s left foot and facial injuries to Murray. Both were rushed to hospital and later transferred to Lima Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Gray was pronounced dead on arrival at the Oscar Joseph Charity Cottage Hospital, where Dr. Mahase examined him.
