The community of Queenstown, Region Two, is in mourning once again following the untimely death of 28-year-old Kevin Bacchus. On Wednesday night, Bacchus lost control of his red truck, bearing the license plate GNN 4987, and collided with a low-bed trailer carrying an excavator on Riverstown Public Road.
This tragic accident marks yet another loss for the community, which recently experienced the heartbreaking deaths of seven-year-old Emmanuel Jones, who was electrocuted, and Chris Ragubir, who was fatally struck by a truck just days earlier.
According to reports, Bacchus was en route to Riverstown Primary School when the accident occurred around 9:00 PM. Described as a dedicated individual who managed his father’s contracting business, Bacchus was a loving son, the eldest of three, and had recently completed studies in aeronautical engineering before choosing to join the family business.
His mother, Rita Persaud, expressed her devastation, recalling their last conversation before the tragedy. “He told me he was heading to a construction site, and shortly after, I received the shocking news of his accident,” she recalled tearfully. “My son was so loving and helpful. This loss is incomprehensible for our family.” Friends remember Bacchus as a quiet yet dependable individual, always ready to assist others. His body is currently at the Suddie Parlour, pending a post-mortem examination.
