According to the Danville Police Department, Hayes poured gasoline on Vogler as he attempted to escape and ignited it.
Following the assault, Vogler was airlifted to a burn center for urgent medical care, and while his current condition remains unknown, he is being treated for severe injuries. Hayes has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding. He was apprehended shortly after fleeing the scene and is currently held without bond.
