
A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded at Hersheypark’s water park, The Boardwalk, where a 9-year-old child lost their life on Thursday. Hershey Entertainment & Resorts reported that lifeguards acted swiftly after recognizing the child was in distress while enjoying the attractions.
In a statement, John Lawn, CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, shared, “Tonight, a nine-year-old guest was tragically lost at The Boardwalk.” He explained that lifeguards initiated immediate rescue efforts, supported by on-site responders and medical personnel. Despite these actions, the child was later pronounced dead at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The exact cause of death remains undetermined.
Lawn expressed deep sorrow for the family affected by this loss, stating, “Our hearts break for this child and the child’s family,” and extended condolences on behalf of the entire organization. To prioritize their privacy, no further details about the child or specifics about the attraction involved have been disclosed.
The Boardwalk features an array of 16 water attractions, including popular options like the “Whitecap Racer” and a massive wave pool.
