
In a harrowing event on Wednesday, law enforcement in Ohio has identified a police officer slain in an ambush and the assailant responsible for the attack. The Elyria Police Department revealed that 28-year-old Michael Parker was the shooter who unleashed a barrage of gunfire on responding officers in Lorain.
The chaos began when an on-duty officer reported gunshots in the vicinity of River Bend Drive. As additional officers arrived, Parker began firing upon them using a high-powered rifle, leading to a violent exchange.
During this confrontation, three officers were injured, with one, identified as 35-year-old Phillip Wagner, succumbing to his injuries at a local hospital. Wagner was remembered as a devoted officer, Marine veteran, and beloved family member, leaving behind a wife and two children. His sacrifice has left a profound impact on his community.
Following the shooting, police discovered Parker’s vehicle which contained various high-powered weapons, handguns, and a large number of loaded magazines. Suspicious materials were also found, prompting the involvement of the Lorain County Bomb Squad, resulting in the safe disposal of improvised explosive materials.
