Over the past five years, investments totaling over $110 billion have been directed toward Region Nine, significantly improving various sectors including housing, energy, and transportation. For example, housing expenditure marked a staggering 1,000% increase while investments from the Guyana Energy Agency surged by 5,000%. These enhancements reflect the government’s deliberate commitment to uplifting the lives of Indigenous communities.
In a significant move, the administration aims to establish a food hub in partnership with Brazilian counterparts, designed to facilitate cross-border trade and food security initiatives. This includes collaboration on infrastructure improvements, such as the Linden to Lethem road project, which is currently under development. Looking ahead, the government plans to orchestrate a comprehensive strategy involving tourism and investment to further secure the economic future of the region.
