As part of its efforts to provide equitable and accessible healthcare, the government has announced a new initiative aimed at delivering structured medical care to bedridden patients in the comfort of their own homes. The Ministry of Health has issued clear directives to regional health teams to ensure that all bedridden patients receive regular visits from medical professionals.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo, emphasized the importance of early medical intervention and outlined a comprehensive plan for expectant mothers, including regular check-ups with a general doctor and ultrasounds throughout pregnancy.
Additionally, the government has introduced several initiatives to support families, such as the $100,000 newborn cash grant, maternal screening, child health services, and universal access to healthcare benefits. These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare across Guyana’s life course.
