The 2020 election trial resumed on Tuesday, with a focus on the absence of one of the defendants, Carol Smith-Joseph, and the presentation of a police-recorded interview with former Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo.
The court had been informed earlier that Smith-Joseph had obtained a travel order to visit overseas for medical treatment. The prosecution sought a copy of the court order, which was eventually made available.
Prosecutor Latchmie Rahamat requested an extension, citing the expiration of the court order on Tuesday.
Police Sergeant Romario Campbell testified about setting up equipment and securing recordings during his interview with Mingo in 2020. The video was played in court, showing investigators informing Mingo of the fraud allegations against him.
The trial is ongoing, with nine individuals charged with conspiring to manipulate election results in favour of APNU+AFC.
