With heavy hearts, the Alliance for Change (AFC) announces the passing of former Minister and long-serving member, Valerie Garrido-Lowe, who left us on Sunday morning due to a heart attack.
Throughout her time with the AFC, Valerie was a steadfast figure and a formidable advocate for the citizens of Guyana. Between 2015 and 2020, she served as Minister within the Ministry of Indigenous Peoplesā Affairs, where she dedicated herself to uplifting Amerindian communities and safeguarding their rights and livelihoods. Her passionate advocacy, steadfast dedication, and genuine compassion won her the admiration of many colleagues and community members.
Valerie embodied the essence of a trailblazerācharacterized by her courage, integrity, and unwavering principles. Her lifelong commitment to public service and the vision for a better Guyana will always be remembered.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to her children, family, friends, and all whose lives she influenced during her remarkable journey. Valerieās loss is not just a blow to our party but to the entire country as well.
