A recent economic and trade meeting in Geneva has significantly reduced trade tensions between the United States and China, leading to a surge in orders from U.S. buyers. During a press conference on Wednesday, a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, noted that shipping services are operating at full capacity, highlighting the robust demand emerging from both nations.
Mao’s comments were echoed by Michael Hart, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, who spoke at last week’s Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2025 in Beijing. Hart emphasized China’s vital role as both a major market and supplier of goods to the United States.
Mao described the economic relationship between China and the U.S. as fundamentally mutually beneficial, stating that trade cooperation between the world’s two largest economies has yielded significant advantages for businesses and consumers alike. She remarked that protectionist policies yield no fruitful outcomes and reaffirmed China’s openness to global enterprises, including U.S. firms, encouraging them to deepen their cooperation and share in the benefits that arise from such partnerships.
