A man from the UK has been charged for allegedly orchestrating a faux wedding with a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl at Disneyland Paris. The 39-year-old suspect, a convicted sexual offender wanted in the UK, was apprehended after police were alerted by a person hired to impersonate the bride’s father at the event.
The individual claimed he was paid €12,000 for this role and realized too late that the bride was a child. Fortunately, investigators confirmed that the girl, who had just arrived in France, had not suffered any physical or sexual abuse.
A witness who played a guest at the ceremony expressed shock upon seeing the little girl in a wedding dress, recalling the emotional moment as disturbing. Approximately 100 extras were supposedly recruited for this private event, which had been arranged to take place at Disneyland Paris after hours, costing the organizer potentially over €130,000.
Alongside the British man, three others—including the girl’s mother and two Latvian nationals—were arrested, although by Tuesday, only the British suspect remained in custody. The man faces numerous charges, including fraud and identity theft, having reportedly used a forged Latvian ID to book the venue. The investigation continues, shedding light on the disturbing nature of this alleged event.
