The National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) results are set to be revealed tomorrow, according to Education Minister Priya Manickchand. In a recent update on her official Facebook account, she affirmed, “We had committed to announce the NGSA results by June 26, and I am pleased to confirm that they will be disclosed on June 25.”
Expressing her enthusiasm, Manickchand highlighted the significance of these results in illustrating the education sector’s recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which had significantly disrupted learning by closing schools.
“The pandemic impacted us deeply, but this announcement brings joy not just for the students’ performances but also because we are progressing towards universal secondary education,” she remarked. She assured that all students would soon have access to high school education as the government strives to facilitate this move.
Reflecting on the current educational climate in Guyana, she noted, “It’s an exciting time for students; we have more trained teachers, access to textbooks, and digital learning environments than ever before.”
During the two-day secondary placement exams in April, Manickchand revealed that 15,813 students had registered, with a notable attendance of 15,497 on the first day, marking the highest turnout since the pandemic among others, including provisions made for pupils with special education needs and those taking the exams in Spanish.
