A recent video has surfaced showing prominent businessman Nazar ‘Shell’ Mohamed leaving the Venezuelan Embassy in Georgetown, sparking renewed debate over his alleged ties with the country.
Initially, the Mohameds denied any visits to the embassy, even going as far as challenging Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo to provide proof. However, with recent statements from US Congressmen and Washington’s efforts to combat narco-traffickers linked to Venezuela, questions are growing over the true purpose of Mohamed’s visit.
The US government has designated Venezuela a ‘narco-state’, leading to a naval buildup in the Southern Caribbean region. Seven US warships, including one nuclear-powered submarine, were recently deployed to the area, aimed at addressing threats from Latin American drug cartels.
As tensions rise, Mohamed’s candidacy in the upcoming elections is being questioned, with some labeling him a ‘pro-Maduro puppet’. The true reason for his visit to the Venezuelan embassy remains unclear, leaving many to wonder about his involvement with the country.
