
A 23-year-old miner was shot and injured in a Providence, East Bank Demerara, shooting incident on August 6. According to police reports, the victim, Randy Bacchus, had just returned home from visiting family in Bartica when he was shot at approximately 11:30 pm. Bacchus reported being shot and was taken to Diamond Regional Hospital for medical attention.
Police investigations revealed that Bacchus had spent about 10 minutes outside before returning inside the house where he claimed to have been shot. However, his story changed when questioned by police officers.
The scene was processed, and two suspected 9mm spent shells were recovered. Several persons were questioned, but no useful information was obtained.
In other news, a labourer has been remanded in prison following a fatal hit-and-run incident involving an eight-year-old child.
