The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security has launched a new initiative to empower young women in Guyana, with the aim of connecting them with experienced mentors who can guide them on their life journey.
The ‘Girls to Women Mentorship Network’ was introduced on Monday at the Umana Yana in Kingston, Georgetown, as part of the ministry’s observance of International Day of the Girl Child.
Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud emphasized that the network is designed to unlock the full potential of young girls by connecting them with women who can inspire and mentor them.
The programme will be rolled out across the country, bringing together women mentors and young girls in a closer relationship.
Minister Persaud stressed the importance of giving young girls the opportunity to hear from exceptional women, learn about their challenges, journeys, and triumphs.
‘We’re trying, in our own way, to play a part in shaping the woman you will become tomorrow, while helping the girl you are today understand that there is support for everything you aspire to do and all that you can be,’ Minister Persaud said.
