The South China Morning Post reports that Germany sold high-speed trains to China 21 years ago, yet the German rail network is currently described as slowing down while China's network continues to see improvements.
Wang Xixi recalled her initial experience with German trains 21 years ago, which prompted her to wonder how a railway could be so clean, punctual, and empty while still generating revenue. She noted that the carriages were bright, the restrooms were nearly spotless, and the fittings were modern. During her four years as a student in Bavaria, utilizing a regional rail pass, she barely experienced any delays.
At that time, China's high-speed railway network was in its nascent stages, whereas Germany was a significant exporter of this technology. Specifically, Siemens supplied China with 60 trains that were capable of reaching 300km/h (186mph) in 2005.
