According to BBC UK, a 19th Century revivalist chapel is slated for auction with a guide price of only £1.

The Grade II listed Ebenezer Chapel, which features long curved pews and high arched windows, once held up to 900 worshippers but was last used in 2009 and is now overgrown and derelict. Paul Fosh Auctions stated that the substantial detached property located in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, had undergone some partial renovation work, but its planning permission for conversion into five flats has since expired.

Auctioneer Sean Roper commented that the large former chapel, which also includes a domestic-sized single garage, is situated in the desirable area of Trecynon. Roper further noted that the Grade II listed chapel possesses two storeys of living space and is set on a sizable but currently overgrown plot, with potential entry points available from both the front and the rear of the site.

The property occupies an area of approximately 0.23 acres and is located within an area of "well-established residential housing," situated about half a mile from the town center. The auction for the property is set to commence on October 8.
