Linden Return Set for Kashif & Shanghai Tournament on December 13
The tournament last held a final in Linden in 2008, while its most recent edition on record was in 2015. Its planned December 13 return will be limited to First Division clubs, excluding three former champions.
Kaieteur News reports that the Kashif & Shanghai Knockout Tournament is scheduled to return to Linden on December 13, 2026, with matches planned for Bayroc National Stadium and Mackenzie Sports Club Ground. The competition began on Boxing Day in 1990. After finals moved from Linden to the Guyana National Stadium, the last final in the town was played in 2008, when Alpha United beat Topp XX. The most recent edition on record took place in 2015, with Slingerz FC defeating Alpha United 2-0.
For the planned return, tournament co-director Kashif Muhammad said participation will be restricted to First Division clubs; Elite League teams are excluded. Kaieteur News says that means former champions Slingerz FC, Camptown and Fruta Conquerors will not take part. The eligibility rule sets the field for the competition, but the participating clubs have not yet been announced.
Further information on clubs, sponsorship and prizes is expected at the official launch in Linden on Saturday, October 3, 2026, according to Kaieteur News.
