Pentagon Select's Boeing for $20 Billion US Navy Next-Generation Fighter Jet Contract
Officials reported on Tuesday that the Pentagon has awarded Boeing a contract worth US$20 billion to construct the US Navy's next-generation fighter jets, which will be F/A-XX aircraft under the Next Generation Air Dominance Program.
According to officials reported by the South China Morning Post, the Pentagon has selected Boeing to manufacture the United States Navy's forthcoming fighter jets in a contract valued at US$20 billion, as announced on Tuesday.
The agreement mandates the production of F/A-XX aircraft, also referred to as "strike fighters," as part of the "Next Generation Air Dominance Program," stated a Pentagon announcement. The new aircraft are slated to replace the existing Super Hornet fleet and operate alongside F-35s beginning in the 2030s.
This selection represents the second instance of Boeing being chosen by the Pentagon for a sixth-generation weapons system during the second Trump administration. Furthermore, in March 2025, Trump had previously announced that the US Air Force had selected the aerospace company to develop a new stealth fighter.
