Schroders' global CEO stated that the UK fund house intends to increase its investment and staff in Hong Kong subsequent to its acquisition by the US asset manager Nuveen, noting that government initiatives are making the location more attractive to private markets experts.
Based on reporting by South China Morning Post:
According to Schroders' global CEO, the UK fund house Schroders plans to augment its investment and employee numbers within Hong Kong following its acquisition by the US asset manager Nuveen.
Richard Oldfield commented that government measures are rendering Hong Kong a more appealing destination for professionals in the private markets.
Oldfield indicated that the government's initial five-year plan, which was announced last month, supports Schroders' objective to raise investment in the city by improving the integration between the city and the mainland market.
He also mentioned that although there are no immediate intentions to relocate to larger office spaces, the number of staff in Hong Kong has already risen over the preceding nine months.
