Senators Urge Consistency in National Tourism Slogan Amid Budget Hearings
Senators have suggested that altering national taglines with each election consumes resources and weakens international recognition, prompting questions about the current slogan, “Love the Philippines,” during a budget hearing.
According to the South China Morning Post, senators have expressed the view that modifying national taglines following every election results in a waste of resources and diminishes global recognition. During a departmental budget hearing on Monday, the newly appointed Tourism Secretary, Dita Angara-Mathay, was questioned regarding her intentions for the existing slogan, “Love the Philippines,” as reported by the Philippine Star. Furthermore, the chairman of the Senate finance subcommittee, Erwin Tulfo, proposed maintaining the present slogan instead of initiating a new one.
